Project Kick-off Meeting

The Desired Project Held its Project hybrid Kick-off Meeting on Tuesday, 14th October 2025 at MAT ABACUS Business School in Kamapla. The project kick-off meeting is one of the several activities that are to be undertaken by the project. The meeting was attended by all the project implementing partners which are; MAT ABACUS Business School (Consortium leader), Makerere University Business School (MUBS), Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Nigeria), Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (Nigeria), Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (Netherlands), and the University of Lisbon (Portugal). The meeting was also attended by industry partners: Uganda Chapter for Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives (UCCSRI) and Sejjaaka, Kaawaase & Co., Certified Public Accountants.

The meeting started with a word of prayer, followed by the overall project coordinator’s remarks, who urged all members of the project to focus on enhancing the skills of accounting graduates and improving their technology fluency, given the emergence of AI and a tech-driven workplace.  

During the project kick-off meeting, the implementing partners were oriented on the activities, work packages of the project and the relevant outcomes and deliverables. This activity was led by Prof. David Katamba. 
A Q&A Session followed, where partner institutions and organisations sought clarity on some activities, roles and outputs. There were also remarks from the project finance manager Mr Jude Muhumuza who guided implementing partners on the financial reporting standards of the project as guided by the EU. 
Mr Tom Tamale, a project officer disuccessed project engagement activities and co-creation meetings that have taken place at MAT ABACUS Business School. He encouraged other partners to carry out the same. Different branding and communication materials were shared with all partners. Guidelines for the usage of these materials were also provided.
