The DESIRED Project
The DESIRED Project is a collaborative initiative funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ Programme, designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practice in accounting education. The project seeks to enhance the employability of accounting graduates in Uganda and Nigeria by integrating Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) into accounting curricula, ensuring that students acquire both technical knowledge and practical workplace competencies demanded by today’s dynamic business environment.
Project Objectives
Building Capacity
To build capacity of 4 HEIs [2 Ugandan & 2 Nigerian] in using Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) pedagogy in accounting education.
Corporation Framework
To establish a cooperation framework for accounting education among the 4 participating HEIs in Uganda and Nigeria
Industry Engagements
To institutionalize ‘accounting education – industry engagements’ at the participating HEIs in Uganda and Nigeria.
Work Integrated Learning
To assess the extent to which WIL can be embedded in accounting education to meet demands of contemporary employers..
Promote Accounting
To promote accounting education as a diverse business and management discipline among employers & students.
